This is not your mama’s sex ed. And we need your help testing it!
The Center for Innovative Public Health Research has developed Girl2Girl, a sexual health program for teen girls who are attracted to other girls. The program will be sent by text message.
What will I have to do?
The program is about 5 months long:
- First, you will receive about 5-10 text messages every day for about 7 weeks.
- Then, things will slow down and you will only receive a couple messages per week for 3 months.
- Finally, you will receive one last week of 5-10 message per day that will review what you have learned in the program.
You may also be matched with a Text Buddy – this is another girl in the program who you can text with about the things you’re learning in the program.
We have two different research studies:
In the first study, we will ask you to share with us how are you are experiencing the program along the way and provide ideas about how to improve it. It lasts for the length of time you are in the program; this is usually about 5 months.
The other study lasts about 8 months. We will ask you to complete several surveys along the way so we can hear how things are going. Specifically, we ask that you complete online surveys: at the beginning of the study, and then 7 weeks into the study. We then will ask you to do a survey at the end of the program, 5 months after you start it; and then 3 months later, 8 months after you started the study.
You will be invited to take part in one of these studies.
Your participation makes a difference!
